Notes from building a drawing engine: what to inspect, what to question and why a convincing preview is only the start.

+01 / DRAWING REVIEW
A File Can Still Fail
A generated PDF is not proof that every sheet is useful. Blank-sheet regressions in the project’s development record are a reminder to inspect rendered output, not just successful exports.
Open the set. Check that the plans, notes and schedules intended for each sheet are present, legible and tied to the project.
+02 / SHARED GEOMETRY
Before the Sheet
When drawings share a building model, geometry has one place to begin. Relationships become easier to trace when a reviewer asks why a room, opening or section appears where it does.
A shared source does not make a flawed assumption correct. Review the model inputs and the sheets together, especially after a project change.
+03 / PROFESSIONAL REVIEW
Leave the Question Open
Site conditions, local rules and discipline-specific decisions need their own evidence. A polished rendering cannot settle them.
Record what is known, what has been assumed and who needs to confirm it. That boundary makes preliminary output more useful to the people who carry the project forward.
